continued from .beautiful.INSOMNIA.
Carry on, you will always remember. Carry on, nothing equals the splendor. The center lights around your vanity, but surely heaven waits for you. Carry on my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest. Don't you cry (don't you cry no more)
The male sung along with the last words in the popular song by Kansas as he hit the last of the notes to achieve his five stars and tons of points. He danced around quietly as the screen said he rocked. Oh yeah, he so totally already knew that. Every time he played this song it reminded him of the one episode of South Park where they got one million points and the game called them fags. He thought of that and it made him laugh out loud because that was probably the funniest episodes of South Park he'd ever seen besides the World of Warcraft one... He moved through the screens that told him he won, and his percentage of notes hit as well as the money he earned.
He set the guitar down to go back and get the juice carton that he'd been drinking from earlier. It was still sitting on the table where his lazy self had left it. He bent down into a squatting position and picked up the box, taking the straw in his mouth again, and drinking the juice. He slowly walked back to pick up the plastic guitar and set the orange juice on top of the TV so he could grab some when he wanted. He chose to play the Beast and the Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold because he didn't yet have five stars on it. He was playing hard, and it was a tad complicated to get five stars on everything, but he was weird and had to do it.
He sung along to the words because he knew all the words to this song, as well as many others on the game. He'd listened to a lot of these bands before the game even came out so it was a bonus for him. He got to be better then most people he played against because he knew the patterns and such to 89 percent of these. A lot of the bonus songs on them he didn't know those, and that's where the other 11 percent came in. She's a dwelling place for demons. She's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy burden, makes us drink the poisoned wine to fucking with our kings. Fallen now is Babylon the Great. The day has come for all us sinners. If you're not a servant, you'll be struck to the ground. Flee the burning, greedy city. Lookin' back on her to see there's nothing around.

Jaydn leaned back and sighed. There was really nothing to do. Her laptop had gone dead after a few more games of solitaire and it would take a while to recharge the battery. Her eyes were killing her from trying to finish that stupid drawing and there was nothing on TV except infomercials and Spanish soap operas. She didn't have anything else to do so why wouldn't she go check out the Guitar Hero thingy. She had heard people talking about it but really had no clue what the hell it was. She looked down at her old sweats and winced. She should definatly change first.
As she walked down the empty hallways she realized that the hotel really was creepy. It also didn't help that she knew that not everyone in the hotel was a human. She instantly regreted thinking about that and walked a little faster. When she finally got to the right door she paused. She could really hear him singing. She hadn't thought he was serious when he said that. She tried not to laugh when figured out what song it was. That was what her uncle sang when he got drunk. She composed her face and knocked on the door.

Trevor got to the first section of the guitar solo in the song and hadn't missed a note so far during the song. He continued to play and heard a knock at the door. For a second he wasn't sure who it might have been, knocking on his door at this early hour. Then he remembered inviting the girl over if she got a bored and a smile graced his features. He looked over to the door for a second and spoke loud enough for her to hear, "Just a second!" the words slipped from his lips, producing the smooth and soft Italian accent as he turned to look back at the screen. He missed one of the notes in the solo as he turned to look again and growled in annoyance. He paused the game and threw the controller on the couch, hearing it land with a very soft thump. He pulled a shirt on over his bare torso and walked over to the door.
His fingers rested on the lock, and turned it carefully, hearing the clockwork moan and groan as he turned the handle and let it open to see the face of the person he'd been talking to IM, he assumed. A smile graced his features as he stepped to the side slightly. "Didn't think you'd come over. I'm Trevor." he said with the smile still showing on his features. After she walked in, he shut the door behind her, locked it again, and turned on the lights. He hadn't bothered to turn them on, but that's because he knew where everything was. He didn't want her to trip upon entering the room. What a great thing to do. Cause someone to hurt themselves as they walk into the room. His eyes observed the area to find it a bit of a disaster by that's how the place was. He had parts of his collage in one corner, his camera not far off, and a work-in-progress of a sketch of the outside world from the view of his window and then the beds in the far side of the room. Yep, same as always really. He walked in then, the smile having faded a slight bit so just his lips were curled. "Welcome to my humble, but extremely unorganized room." he said with a soft chuckle. "My roommate's out at the moment, but he's pretty cool." he didn't want to claim all of this mess as his own, since he'd moved in here with Alek, so he made sure to bring up the other guy as well.

"It's fine," she said looking around at the slight mess. "My room would be alot worse than this if I dodn't keep shoving everything in the closet." If she didn't have such a small room she wouldn't bother doing that, but her room was really small and she enjoyed being able to walk without killing herself in it. This room really wasn't that bad in her opinion. At her aunt's she had a huge room and it was constantly filled with junk. One of the bad things about being a pack rat. "So is that Guitar Hero?" she asked, looking at the thing on the bed.

"Haha, I try not to shove everything in the closet because then when I need it I would have to pull everything out again. That in the end would only end up making this place worse." he said with a laugh, imaging himself opening the closet to have a ton of stuff fall out onto him. He shook his head slightly and watched as she looked around. She stopped then to ask about the guitar that he'd tossed aside to get the door. He nodded slightly, but knew if she didn't look back she'd think he either was ignoring her, staring or just didn't hear her. So he walked over to the closet to reveal another guitar that was just like the one on the bed, but red. "Yeah, ever played? It's a fun game. I didn't think so until I could at least play a little... Then I became addicted." he admitted with a laugh as he traded the red one for the black one.
He pulled the guitar strap over his head and shoulder, and pressed the green button at the top of the neck to start the song again, but instead went to the menu to quit it. It told him he didn't complete the song and he clicked through everything until he got back to the start menu. From there, he'd be able to show her the tutorial, or he could let her try an easy one, if she understands the basic concept of the game already. He turned around then, and pulled the guitar off his shoulder and looked back at her, waiting for an answer. Since she asked if that was it, he figured she hadn't played it before, but he could be wrong.

"Not really," she admitted. "I've heard people talk about it but I really have no clue what it is. What does it do ?" she asked. She felt sort of stupid but it wa better than acting like she knew everything about it and being totally wrong. It didn't look that complicated but she had ways of messing simple things up. It was an annoying habit but very funny at the same time. She han't really gotten into the video game craze when everyone else did. Not that she had really tried any. She just didn't see the point in moving a little man around on the TV screen trying to get whatever little token he was after. Dance, Dance Revolution was fun though. "So you're good at it ?"

"That's cool." he said, not finding it strange that she didn't know. Sure a lot of people back home knew, hell, so many people knew about it that at the local pub they had guitar hero contests. Those were a blast, but anyway. "In the game, you play the guitar, and it's kind of an abstract version if you've ever played a real guitar. You used the five buttons op here on the neck, and the strum bar on the body. You hit the buttons and the bar consecutively, and they hit the note of the screen. I'll show you." he said as he put the strap back over him and held his hand up on the neck. His fingers naturally curled over the first four buttons, but the fifth one he'd need to reach to get. He scrolled through the songs to find and easy one. He set it to easy and showed her what she'd played. He picked Story of my Life by Social Distortion, and then put it on pause as the stage loaded. "See this here, at the bottom?" he asked, pointing to the bottom of the screen where five areas matched with the five fret buttons. "When the notes reach this area, you press the color down and strum the note. It's easier when you try it, but that's the concept." he explained, and unpaused the game. The notes came pretty slowly and he hit them all with ease. He only used the first three buttons though.
He looked back to her as the song finished. "Well... that depends what you consider good. I am ok when it comes to playing expert, but not near as good as some of my friends back home." he would admit he was a video game nerd, but he wasn't near as good as some of his friends. Dan could usually hit all of the notes on expert, while he usually came out of it with an 80 percent hit/miss ratio. He was alright, but not as good as some people were.

"Oh, so it's like a guitar version of Dance Dance Revolution. I think I get it," she said. It made sense and you probably looked alot less stupid playing a guitar than dancing around on a pad trying to stomp on the right part at the right time. She had seen people trying to look cool on those big machine versions they had at malls and stuff. Not a pretty sight. She did it okay though, at least that's what her friends told her. She would never do that infront of a crowd, not even if she was completely smashed. And she did alot of stupid stuff when she was drunk. Thankfully she didn't remember most of them. "So instead of dancing around you just use your hands?"she asked watching him play the song. It really was sort of cool. And it didn't look spastic at all.

"Sure I guess. I have never heard it compared that way before and I'm not real big on playing DDR. To be truthful, I suck at it completely." he said with a laugh, thinking of one time when he'd been dared to go into the mall and play on one of the large machines they had at the arcade. He couldn't say no, because it was a dumb dare that anyone could do. So he'd gone to try and made a complete idiot out of himself and some little kid showed him up. It had been a good day in the end, but man he'd felt stupid after that. To put that in retrospect, he'd even been sober when he'd gone to the mall to do that.
"Yeah it's pretty easy, you just have to watch the screen, but be able to move your fingers as the same time. So kind of like the other game, only a lot less movement is involved." he said, thinking of how you had to jump around and do all this crazy stuff when you played DDR. In guitar hero, all you had to do was move your fingers, and then when you were deep in the red or wanted extra points you could tilt up the guitar to activate the star power. He found this game a lot simpler, but then again he had an extreme lack of coordination so... different people play different games. "Here, take this and you can either try the tutorials, or you can jump right into a song."

"Uh... okay," she said taking it and trying to put her fingers in the right spots. When she finally got them in the right position she went ahead to the song. She learned better with hands on stuff and didn't get much when other people tried to teach her things. She had gotten the jist of his crash course though and basically knew what to do. She stumbled her way through the song but got better towards the end. When it was over she looked down at the thing and them back at him. " It really isn't that hard once you get it," she remarked as she handed it back to him. "Your turn." She moved away from the screen and gave him room to move up and play. It was fun and alot harder to make an idiot of yourself with. She saw why everyone liked it so much now.

He watched her play, working in a few side comments for a little extra help. Small things such as to keep her fingers holding the button down when multiple notes of the same color came at once, or to strum up and down when there was a section of notes that came pretty quickly. She started off as any beginner usually did, and got a little better toward the end which most did as well. He smiled slightly as she said it wasn't too hard and then handed him the guitar. "Yeah, a lot of people complain that it's too hard, but that's because they skip ahead and try the songs that they like without doing the easy ones." he said as he pulled the strap over his shoulder and scrolled way down the list to pick My Name is Jonas by Weezer.
He chose hard instead of easy, and right off the bat notes came at him. They came in big groups, and in the beginning of the song he strummed once, and played a whole group without strumming again. As a small, showing off kind of habit, he held his fingers up from the guitar to prove that he wasn't strumming the notes. It was a subconscious action, because he usually only did this when he was playing around his friends just to prove that he could play the hammer-ons. He was the only one he knew that could move his fingers up and down the neck that quickly to hit all the notes without strumming. He watched the screen contently, dark brown eyes watching the notes as they came at him. He got a note streak of 40 in a row, and it boosted his multiplier to x4, then he tilted the guitar up ninety degrees and activated star power which turned the notes all blue and the video game crowd went insane. He kept his feet still and finished the last notes, getting five gold stars on the song. "Yeah, it's not that hard if you practice. From my experience though, it's actually harder to play this game then a real guitar." he said with a shrug.

"You play the guitar ? " she asked. She didn't say it in a surprised way, she just asked it in a normal tone. Ever since she saw her school librarian rock out at a Greenday concert nothing really surprised her. She also didn't doubt that this was easier. She had a pretty good memory but she couldn't remember all the songs that guitar players did, especially not infront of a crowd. She was weird like that. Talking or hanging out with a bunch of people she was fine with but she got nervous if she absolutly knew they would be judging what she was doing. Even if she was really good at something she hated for people to see her doing it, whether it was playing sports or drawing or painting or anything musically. Less people she could handle, but put her infront of a crowd and she got nervous.

"Ehh, used to. My dad and I got into a lot of fights because I was trying to start a band and he complained that we were too loud. I tried compromising so we could have the basement until he got home from work, but he still fought with me about it. He ended up breaking my guitar right in front of my face and I haven't played since then." he said, offering her the chance to play another song. He grabbed the orange juice off the top of the TV and disappeared into another part of the room to throw it away. That might have seemed planned; he spoke of his father and then all of a sudden decided to clean up a bit... He finished up the last of the juice and tossed it in the trash can. "Want anything to drink? I have, coke, mountain dew, more orange juice, water, Jack Daniels, there's a beer in here but that might be Alek's..." he asked as he leaned backwards a bit to see her again, instead of staying hidden while he spoke to her.
The room was weird, and he'd meant to rearrange it. The fridge was in this area that was like a closet, but it seemed too big to be a closet. He waited for an answer and disappeared for another moment to pour a bit of jack into a rock glass and then top it off with coke. He stirred the drink around, the ice clinking against the sides as he stirred. He took a sip and looked back at her again, waiting for an answer. He took the drink in his hand and leaned up against the wall so he didn't just randomly fall over. In all honesty that wouldn't be out of the norm for him. He trips over nothing sometimes. Kind of strange, but kind of not, knowing his mother.
