To be blind is not miserable; As strange and different as this male was, neither seemed to fit him quite right this night. He'd just returned from a fulfilling hunt and was tired as hell but refused to use the elevators no matter how tired and worn out he felt. There was something weird about him and them, so he didn't use them at all. He didn't care if his floor was way on the top of the building; he'd climb the stupid stairs. Climbing stairs was good for him and they didn't freak him out like elevators did. It was a win win situation by taking the stairs. He'd remain completely calm and he'd get a nice work out at the same time. His fear of the elevators was something that you just didn't ask about. It was one of those things that was really weird and couldn't exactly be explained. It was just a feeling he got in the pit of his stomach every time he was on one. He didn't trust that feeling so here he was, climbing the stairs.
He'd been able to capture a dog tonight. Although he loved dogs, it was stray and he hasn't been able to catch anything for a few days now. Being blind was a huge disadvantage when it was a dog eat dog world. If he didn't hunt then he'd die, if he tried to hunt and came out with nothing, after too long he'd die. He didn't like the thought of dying at such a young age, so he made sure he put forth his best effort to be able to hunt. Now that he was full, he knew he wouldn't have to hunt for another few days. His body was dressed in a black and white striped button up shirt, which was undone three buttons from the top and buttoned the rest of the way down. His collar was pulled up against his neck and long black bangs hung in the side of his face while the rest of his hair was teased to stand on end. It framed his pale features that had a slightly red tint to it from the blood of the creature he'd drained. Abnormally blue eyes of the vampire were focused on the area before him where he knew the stairs were. The eyes had dull gray centers that had a blueish tinge to them, but they faded into a light blue until the color reached the outside of his cornea, which was a very bright sky blue. Pants that fit his legs were flared at the bottom and went from a deep black to a whiteish color at his knees and darkened back to black around the waist of the form fitting pants. His shoes were just a pair of black tennis shoes that fit over his feet.
He stopped for a moment as he reached a flat portion in between two flights. It would have taken him down the hall to the tenth floor but he needed to go up more flights. He thought he had to go up four or five more, but he wasn't entirely sure. He was doing this by memory and it was frustrating because he was tired and didn't want to make a mistake and have to backtrack. He leaned up against a wall, and removed a pack of cigarettes from his back pocket. He carefully removed one and pulled a lighter out with it. He placed the cigarette between his lips and flipped the top of the red lighter to allow the flame to grow. He carefully held it close to the end of the cigarette and after a moment he removed it, and inhaled slightly. He leaned his head back against the wall and he removed it from his lips to hold it between his index and middle finger as he left the smoke leave his lungs. He forced the lighter and box back into his pockets and just stood there for a moment, in the corner with his bright blue eyes hidden from sight. not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable.

Bella lurked silently down the halls of the hotel, hoping to wear herself out to the point that she would no longer fall asleep to nightmares. Although it was healing nicely, her arm was still badly hurt from her last incident, and bandages were harder to find in this building than she'd expected them to be. She took her time going down to the platform of the tenth floor, her arms wrapped tightly to her body to keep her bare arms warm. As usual, she'd thought she would be alone at this point, and that everyone had either gone out or was locked up in their hotel rooms. And, as usual, she was wrong.
Once she reached the bottom of the stairs and began walking down the hallway, she noticed a figure leaning against one of the walls and smoking a cigarette, although she was too far away at the moment to tell exactly who it was. She continued walking closer and soon enough was able to identify Corbly. She walked over and leaned on the wall next to him, tapping him lightly on the shoulder. "Hello," she greeted in a soft whisper.

To be blind is not miserable; Corbly was so tired that he could have just fallen asleep right there. Standing in the corner with his head against the wall wasn't really all that comfortable for the male, but he felt as though he was going to drop dead-- Ehh. Too late. So, he was already dead, he felt as though the little life left within him was slowly being sucked out until he turned into a pile of ash like the tip of his cigarette. He hadn't been so tired in a long time; the thought of having to go up more flights of stairs was driving him crazy. He kept thinking that he needed to get moving again so he didn't forget what floor he was on. If he stood there and relaxed for too long he'd loose track of where he was and then he'd have one hell of a problem on his hands. That would be a huge problem for him because then he'd either have to go all the way back down, or all the way up until he found the maid's corner... He didn't want to do either, but he was just too tired.
Corbly was so tired that he didn't even hear the sounds of the other vampire's feet as she came down the stairs. Normally he was really alert and would have jumped to the defensive and would have asked who it was that was coming near him. Instead he just stayed put and lazily placed the cigarette between his lips and slowly let his lungs take in the poisonous smoke. He didn't even open his eyes, just stayed with his back against the wall and very quietly let the breath escape him. Her fingers tapped his shoulder lightly as she leaned against the wall and spoke in a soft, whispered voice. Bright blue eyes gazed in the direction the voice had come from and a small, but tired smile showed upon his pale features. He could easily identify her as Bella Jenkins for he's seen her around before. Most of the vampires knew one another because a good percentage of them had been here for quite some time. He was sure there were some that were a bit more secretive and kept themselves hidden, but for the most part everyone knew everyone even if you hadn't met face to face. "Hello Bella. What keeps you up at this hour?" Corbly gave a short greeting and then questioned in whispered tones as his abnormally bright blue eyes gazed in her direction. He pulled the cigarette from his lips and held it between his fingers as he gave her a moment to answer. Most he could think of were still up, but he didn't usually find her wandering about at this hour on many other days. Perhaps something kept her awake tonight, or maybe they just wandered in very different paths. not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable.

She sighed; that was an excellent question. She was actually starting to feel the urge to sleep pulling at her, but she dreaded actually falling asleep for fear of the nightmares returning. "Sleep and I aren't getting along at the moment," she replied, biting her lip as she cradled her bandaged arm in her healthy one. "I was just hoping a walk would tire me out." She ran her fingers through her pale hair and leaned her head back against the wall. "And you? I was not expecting to see anyone else up."
She couldn't really remember ever seeing him wander around the halls before, and so it felt sort of strange to be talking to him now. Not that she minded, honestly; the longer she spent speaking with him, the longer she had until she had to go back and try to get to sleep. She had already made herself a mental note to move anything heavy or breakable away from the bed anyways, just in case. She lowered her eyelids shut for a long moment, waiting patiently for his response.

To be blind is not miserable; He listened to the words and the way she said them as she spoke. She seemed a little bothered by the fact that she wasn't sleeping, almost as though something had gone wrong. He couldn't tell for sure though, that was just a guess. There was a slight pause and a bit of movement and Bella spoke again, saying that she'd hoped walking would tire her out. Then she asked him the same question but said that she hadn't expected to find anyone else out and about at this hour. He nodded slightly, understanding for he hadn't expected too either. "Ehh, making my way up to my room again. I was out not too long ago, finally got my hands on a meal." tones sounded very annoyed as he spoke, for it was hard as hell to catch something when you're blind. He couldn't see enough to catch the animals, and feeding on humans just wasn't right. They were annoying and crowded the hotel, but he'd met some nice ones and couldn't bring himself to do that. He'd tasted human blood before and it was amazing... He knew things wouldn't go well if he tasted the blood again. A soft chuckle escaped his lips before he spoke again. "I could just fall asleep right here..." Corbly spoke softly as he placed the cigarette between his lips again for he was tired of holding it.
Fingers grabbed the cigarette once more and then a yawn stretched his features, exposing the red interior of his mouth as well as the straight white teeth and large fangs. His lip rings fit tight around his lips and then loosened up a bit as his yawn came to a finish. Absently his right hand came up to mess with them. He pulled at the two snakebites and then messed with the stud on his top lip before dropping his hand to his side. It was a random habit that he had, just messing with the piercings. He wanted a tongue piercing, but unless he tried to do it himself, a human wouldn't want to do it. Nor would he want someone that close to his mouth. He disliked dentists and a human with a needle with the intension of putting a hole in his tongue was no different then a dentist who poked and prodded at your teeth. not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable.

She nodded and reached up to push her hair back again; it kept getting in her way and honestly, it was really starting to bug her. "Well, that's good," she responded. She herself had had trouble finding meals that were not part of the human community, and she knew she wouldn't be able to do that forever. The last animal she could remember biting was an old raccoon, and that was quite a while ago. She heard her companion chuckle and looked up again, just in time for him to speak again. She smiled. "Well, that makes one of us," she replied, silently wishing that she was able to fall asleep as easily as the other vampires she knew. It wasn't that she didn't like sleeping - on the contrary, she loved it - but it just didn't come easily to her.
She watched, amused, as he played idly with the piercings on his lips. He seemed to be lost in his own world, in the thoughts that he chose not to speak aloud. She found herself yawning as well after a minute, and for a second she entertained the possibility that she was, in fact, more tired than she'd previously thought. And then the feeling passed, and she was more or less wide awake again. She let out a small sigh and unconsciously ran her fingers along the part of her arm that had been the most badly hurt, the part that had hit the vase first.

To be blind is not miserable; He smiled slightly as she said that made one of them. He was really tired, more tired then he'd ever been at what he considered an early hour. He didn't usually sleep a lot for he woke in the middle of his sleep and then couldn't go back to sleeping. He usually got about four hours of sleep and he lived pretty well on that. He was lucky if he got five or six, and never once had he got the recommended seven or eight. Truth be told, Corbly was fine with that. He'd never really slept all that well, and he could survive on four hours. It's not like he was extremely physically active... He wandered around and climbed the stairs many times a day. Yeah, that's not all that much hard work. He drew in a slow breath to pull the toxins of the cigarette into his lungs and just held it in for a moment. His blue eyes gazed toward the other who was leaned up against the wall next to him and then rose to the ceiling. He slowly released the breath and let the smoke pass through his lips. A soft sigh escaped him as silence filled the area where no words were being formed.
He dropped his hand to his side and pushed the fingers into the pocket of his jeans. He ran his tongue over his front teeth and fangs as an absent minded action and let his blue eyes fall to the girl again. He didn't know what to say and he didn't want to fall asleep while standing here with her. "Which way are you heading?" the quiet lyrics were heard from him as he let the cigarette hang loosely between his light pink lips. His hair framed his face and carefully hands rose to push it back a bit, finding the overly teased locks a bit annoying, but then again he loved how they looked and hadn't yet seen anyone with hair like his. So Corbly would keep it different, although it was a bit annoying to have hair all over the place. not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable.

She wrinkled her nose as she watched him blow the thick smoke away; she wasn't - and never really had been - crazy about cigarettes. The smoke drifted into the open hall and soon was gone, although she assumed that cloud would soon be replaced with a brand new one. She bit her bottom lip lightly and looked around, suddenly coming to a realization of how empty the whole hotel really was. The feeling passed after a second, though, when she heard another question being asked. She turned to face Corbly just in time to hear him ask which way she was heading, a question that not even she knew the answer to. "I don't know," she replied with a sigh. "Whichever way doesn't lead me back to my room for now, I suppose."
