Katherin slowly walked up the many stairs until she reached the top. There she paused and leaned against the banister, looking around with a rather sad expression on her face. This hotel used to be so much more. There had been parties every night, the most wonderful balls you could ever imagine, and of course people from all over the country and even farther than that. She could remember all these things and almost see the scenes replaying on their original settings. That was where the young man from New York finally propsed to that girl from Nebraska. There an old woman used to sit and stare at the passing guests. At the base of the stairs, children used to meet to play and plan their day's adventures. She could remember all these things and missed them.
Now look at what this old building was reduced to. Collecting dust while humans and vampires ran amok inside of it. Her fingers traced the railing and she sighed. It wasn't really their fault, she thought as her diplomatic side kicked in. It wasn't like they had known they would wind up living here. They thought they would go back home. Inspite of herself she felt a pang for the humans. Nothing ever seemed to work out the was they planned.
