Kriss leaned back against her locker, a small smile on her lips, textbooks clutched to her chest. One of her friends came striding up, his legs long and skinny. He was such a gawky kid, but she loved him anyway. He grinned like the idiot he was as he approached. Hey, loser. What's the stupid look for? she called lightheartedly, already affected by his happy demeanor. He just laughed and stood before her, his hand stuffed in his front pouch pocket. An iPod headphone cord dripped from his ear and disappeared into the pocket of his jeans.
Reaching up, she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as it slipped into her eyesight. I, he began to state airily, Just received, in the mail, the new and cooler cover for my iPod. He stopped and looked at her expectantly. And I care why? she commented sarcastically. His face fell comically, and she laughed, reaching out and pushing his shoulder gently. Come on, don't be a wuss. Oh, by the way, do you want to go see a movie this weekend? I'm gathering together a big group so we can have a better time. What do you say? She flashed a charming smile and he nodded. And now, off to class, he stated and shoved his way through the crowd.
She watched him go before turning towards her own class, waving as she caught the eye of one of her other friends, her smile still lingering on her face. The girl came up to her and looked at her suspiciously. Please don't tell me you were flirting with Ryan. Kriss just laughed. Like I would. Come on, we'll be late for class. Kriss took her arm and started towards their classroom, her friend sighing heavily before wrenching her arm away.

Digging deeper
Personality: She keeps to herself more than anything, especially in her classes. Quiet for the most part, unless she is completely comfortable. She's had someone yell at her for being too quiet. After that, they became friends. She loves to read, capable of immersing herself within the world that the author has created. To disturb her means a burst of anger from the usually calm Kriss. She'll snap at you with a glare before going back to her book and instantly calming down again.
She doesn't get angry very often, she keeps her cool and her emotions within her. When with friends or people she is comfortable with, she comes alive. Her eyes brighten and a smile is constantly hovering on her lips. her laugh is bright and merry, ringing forth often. But if she is surrounded by people that she has no common interests with, she becomes silent and withdrawn, preferring to listen than provide conversation, for fear of saying something stupid or wrong.

Personal history:Let us start from the beginning, shall we? Her family is small, just her parents and her. As a young girl, she was constantly attached to her parents, having a huge fear of being left alone. She has no idea what caused it, only that she had that fear. She was prone to anxiety attacks, which still occur now, but not as often. First day of school always made her feel sick with anxiety.
First grade and what an odd ball she was. Always out of the loop and with only a few friends by her side. Second grade, she gained a friend who had stuck by her through thick and thin, whom she is still best friends with now. She was bullied emotionally that year by a fellow girl in her class, and since then she has taken up a hatred for both that girl and bullies in general. All her elementary years, she was always on the outside, looking in and always wanted to fit in. But she never seemed to be able to.
Middle school and she began enjoying school. She still wanted to be one of the 'in crowd', but that yearning was lessened and she found more and more that she didn't care. She relaxed and became who she really was, expressing herself more and becoming a lot more comfortable. But it was high school where she really emerged and came into her element. She stopped caring about the 'in crowd' and found her niche, among people who accepted her and liked her for herself. She doesn't pretend anymore and she enjoys herself, for she is more relaxed and happy now. She gained a group of friends from all of the different cliques, preps, emos, a jock or two, but mainly drifters such as herself, those that fall between the lines, not really fitting into any group.
