The spin of a favorite novel known by many crackled in the palm of River’s hand. Taking River’s free hand, he licked the tip of his finger and turned to the next page. Dracula was quite a story in Grant’s opinion. The book surely had an interesting view on how vampires act and look like. It was almost amusing on how feeble and naive the human mind really was. River continued reading, but found it quite hard do to the uncommon commotion going on in the lobby.
Now, it wasn’t necessarily the noise that was bothering River’s concentration. It was the girls. Quite often did you see River’s eyes fall out from the books words to catch a glimpse of the beautiful females that now inhabited the hotel. It was actually rather remarkable that so many were crowded in one spot with, well, River. Normally the humans stayed far away from the vampires.
River blinked as he watched the room fall short from noise and then, one by one, the girls disappeared from the lobby. It was getting late, perhaps River should have also retired to the rooms, but why miss out on the moon? It was his favorite time of the day, as for any other vampire.
So River stayed, alone in the neatly stabled lobby, reading his little novel.

Bella walked into the hotel lobby just in time to catch her favourite time of the day; the time when everyone left and the moon started to come out. She loved to hang out there on her own and let her mind wander; she never got a chance to do so during the day. However, once she got to the bottom of the stairs, she found that she wouldn't be alone that time; there sat River, his nose buried in a book.
Smiling, she walked over as quietly as she could and sat down next to him, subsequently trying to figure out exactly what it was he was reading. "Dracula," she said with a smile. "Good choice."

After the commotion ran away River found himself becoming more and more entranced in the book. It was a rather interesting state of mind that River ever so often found himself in. Nothing in the world was more interesting then the letters he was consuming in his mind. Nothing was more important.
Even if a rather attractive girl would have walked in River would have not noticed, which was strange, considering the boy’s behavior around girls. No, everything was about the book. Everything, until...
River’s eyes drifted from the pages of the book and glanced to his side to find a rather pale girl sitting in a seat beside his own. A grin came forward, only being seen by the book. Carefully, he placed the book upon his lap, taking no interest in it at the moment. A girl grabbed his attention and that was that.
“Extremely...I take it you’re a fan?” he asked gently, tapping the book gently with his index finger. Bella was one the few vampires River actually found any interest in. It was mostly human females that caught his attention, for what reason, River had to guess that it was because of poor Lily.
His smile lifted as he waited for a response, his splendid white fangs glinting as they poked out from the corners of his mouth.

She nodded at the question. "Yeah, I actually got it when it first came out. The covers looked different back then," she joked after catching a glimpse of the front cover. "It's fascinating the way he depicts vampires, though." She'd been a fan of the book for years, although she'd never met anyone who'd actually taken the time to read it before. She was glad that now that she found someone who had, it was someone she actually liked talking to. "So, what do you think of it so far?"

River found himself chuckling over her comment. He normally laughed at anything that was even remotely funny that came from the lips of a lady. He found it helped him in the long run. Tapping gently on the cover of the book, he rested his free arm on the arm of the couch while smothering the side of his face inside his palm.
River gazed carefully at Bella, the corners of his lips moved upward once again. It wasn’t rare to find River not smiling unless something of the importance was taking action. He had the idea that smiling and laughing was one of the few tools to retrieve you out of misery. It’s been so long since Lily had passed, and yet, the medicine of smiling still hasn’t shown effect.
”I find the whole image thing of us being blood sucking monsters a bit insulting, but besides that, it’s a rather good book.” River shrugged, keeping the smile in place. To tell you the truth, he wasn’t exactly as interested in the book as he had been only a few moments ago. Ladies came before books in his opinion and with a lovely lady in his presence, their was no such time for a book, no matter how good it may be.
Trying to move into another conversation, his topic was rather common. “So, Bella, what do you think of the new arrivals?” His black eyes shifted slightly as he asked, knowing very well what Bella thought about humans. River’s smile disappeared as he waited patiently for the rant.

She smiled back, finding herself fixated for a moment on the older man's lips; he was an undeniably handsome man, especially when he smiled and, although she didn't actually harbor romantic feelings for him, he was definitely nice to look at.
She nodded an understanding nod. "Well, it's not like he knew any vampires to base it on, and you can't very well blame a human for imagining." She would have found his sudden disinterest in the book strange, had she not known him for long enough to know that women were more important than books in his eyes.
She rolled her bright blue eyes at the question; the entire coven already knew her answer, so she wasn't sure why he was asking her. "I doubt you honestly have any desire to hear my opinion on that," she replied. "I won't waste your time with something you already know."

”You might have a point there.” he agreed, shrugging his shoulders. River had actually looked up the history behind the book, finding it that interesting and had found out the book was based on an actual person, Vlad Dracul. A horrible person who found entertainment in killing people in rather strange ways.
But he would bring this up to Bella, what would be the point? He wanted to drift away from the book and focus more on her. His eyes were transfixed on her blue eyes, even when they rolled over at the question River had just asked. They were rather entrancing. Falling back to the real world, River chuckled slightly, reflecting on the comment she made.
”In other words, you don’t like it at all.” he stated simply, shrugging his shoulders. River surely didn’t mind the new comers. More to look at in his opinion. Plus, human girls were rather helpless when around vampires, making it easier for River to pull on the old charm. Vampire girls were different though, they didn’t fall for the seduction.
Trying to pull out another topic, because surely this one was not too hot, he quickly found a replacement. ”Well then, if you don’t like humans then, tell me what you do like.” River grinned half way, not expecting too much said from Bella, but he liked that. A little mystery.

She shrugged. "Well, it was based on somebody," she recalled from the stories she'd been told when she was younger. "But that's beside the point." She didn't feel like going into detail about the book at this very second; she had a feeling they had more important things to talk about.
She scowled. "Not one bit." She knew she held a very different opinion from most of the other vampires; if they didn't view them as a buffet, they'd see it as a social situation, which was probably how River saw it. She didn't care, though; she had her own opinions.
She thought the question over for a minute. It definitely required a loaded answer, and one she wasn't willing to give at the moment. She replied with a coy smile and a raising of one of her eyebrows. "There are quite a few things I like," she said slowly.

So River wasn’t the only one who was sharp on novel history either. Evidently Bell had known a thing or two herself on the book. But, like she said, that was besides the point. They were supposed to be talking about her, not some novel. To River, a girl’s thoughts were more important then air.
As Bella was clearly on the fine line between hating the new comers, River had his head in the gutters. He wasn’t exactly sure why some vampires hated humans so much. Was it because humans were on the food chain? That was the only reason River could come up with. To be reasonable, hadn’t vampires had once been human? It made no logical order for a vampire to hate humans, in River’s opinion. But Bella could think what she wanted for all he cared, he wouldn’t rain on her parade on how she felt. Who was he to say she was wrong or right?
A one sentence answer, just as River predicted. Unlike some humans, vampires did not give out their life story in one day, for one, because it’s not at all seductive, and two, because most blood sucking monsters most likely lived for over one hundred years and it would take more then a day to give their life story.
River cocked his head to the side, his chin still resting in his palm. Then playfully he added, “Like me, right?” he asked in response to the short answer she had given him.

She shook her head. "You do have your moments," she joked, looking River right in the eyes. He was a master in the art of seduction; even she had to admit it. And she knew she was one of the only vampires who would fall for it. She didn't mind, either; she rather liked being flirted with, as long as it wasn't a human doing the flirting. She crossed one leg over the other and gently pushed away her long white-blonde hair behind her; it was beginning to get in her way again.
((Ugh, sorry it's so short and terrible))

River’s eyes flickered when she responded. His half grin stayed printed on his face as he nodded casually. “I do try.” As he finished his low reply, he straighten his back against the chair and let his hand fall on the arm of the chair. “You too, have your moments as well.” a small wink fell on his expression. He should probably stop flirting with the lady, but this thought didn’t exactly stop the act. He loved to flirt, or more or less, needed to flirt. It was seduction that kept his mind...elsewhere.
Generally, he let his eyes wander away from Bella, concentrating on the cover of the novel in which he had been reading not so long ago. “Tell me, Bella, found any treats lately?” he asked, his tone amused as he referred to the humans. He found some, what vampire hadn’t? But it wasn’t like he did anything with them. More on the lines of fantasying. But the fantasy is coming close to realty. It’s a bit hard to keep his teeth in his mouth when their were ladies with much skin showing. Evidently it was popular to show off, but for River, it was torture.
[ooc, It’s alright, sorry I haven’t been on lately, busy life]
