Food. That was the only thing on Alden's mind at the moment. He had been siting in his room with the radio blaring some random screemo song, by some random screemo band, when his stomach made a weird growling sound. And I mean you cant just ignore your stomach right ? When he was skidding down the stair case rail, he noticed that there was pretty much just darkness surrounding him, and when he checked his watch he realized that it was like 3 in the morning. Realizing he hadn't eaten since lunch his pace had quickened, and he had ended up in Red's Deli.
The air was still, and there was an eerie quietness surrounding him, but it wasn't a new feeling, it had kinda been that way since they came to the hotel. Out of everything in the Deli, he had decided on a big bag of Cheetos and a huge soda, using something that looked like a lemonade pitcher for a glass, since the other cups weren't big enough, at least not for Alden. He ended up siting on the front counter eating his chips and playing with matches that were left out in a small glass bowl on one of the tables. Ever so often he would catch his pants or his shirt on fire, and have to swat the small flame out.

Delilah hadn't eaten since yesterday. She didn't eat often, mostly because she wasn't hungry often. She threw her iPod on her bed, and walked out of her hotel room. She went to lock the door, then just shrugged at the thought of it. Who would be sneaking around in my room? She thought, Who would have the nerve to? Just thinking about someone invading her privacy made her clench her fist. Then Delilah remembered her mind, and snapped out of her little emotional slump.
Delilah walked down the hall, and ran down the stairs, until she reached the deli. She hadn't eaten there yet, she actually never saw it before. Walking into the deli rather noisily, she stopped dead in her tracks to see a boy playing with matches and eating chips. She recognized the boy as Alden. They've talked before, she hated one of his best friends, Raina. Despite the fact of Raina and Delilah despising each other, he still seemed to take some sort of a liking in Delilah. She couldn't see why. Delilah started to walk again, closer to him, "Hey." She smiled. Why not say hello?

Who knew matches could be so dangerous ? I mean just 10 minutes and he had two holes in his black skinny jeans the size of nickles. He had also singed like three of his fingers. But that was something you had to expect with Alden, I mean his thought process wasn't quite the same as the next teen, for instance when someone burns a whole in there pants, you'd think they would stop playing with the matches. Stuffing a handful of Cheetos in his mouth he pulled off another match and lit it, with one quick movement across the small box, and flicked it like a football across the counter.
Finger football using matches, definitely something he was gonna do more often, I mean what else was there to satisfy boredness. He was so wound up with his matches he hadn't noticed the person enter the Deli, and when they said 'hey', Alden did practically jumped off the counter. So yeah it scared him quite a bit. Quickly standing up, he saw who it was. 'Great move Alden', he thought to himself numbly. Delilah. He had developed somewhat of a crush on the girl with orange hair, and though Raina hated her, he did all he could to get her attention. Clearing his throat, he placed a dorky smile on his face. "Uh, yeah, Hi."

"Oh, sorry." She said in a low voice. She always happened to startle people, such as walking into a room without being noticed, or if she was on the roof and people came up; they had no clue she was there. This happened alot, Delilah just figured it was because she wasn't a very noticeable person. Though it wasn't the end of the world as she knew it.
She noted the 'skill' he had with matches. Not many people could use a match as a paper football substitute. "What are you up to?" She asked, "Well besides lighting yourself on fire, and eating Cheetos." She let out a soft laugh. The deli was empty, well obviously. Delilah walked over to a rack where there were there were chips, all different kinds. "Hm." She thought about what she wanted, and took a bag of lays. Old school. Then she walked over to where the counter was, and leaned on it cooly, opening up her bag of chips.

So, he pretty much felt like the biggest moron on the entire earth. God was he a dork or what ? I mean falling off the counter like that ? Seriously it couldn't have been more awkward. Well at least on his part. Taking a deep breath, he listened as she spoke. "Oh, don't be sorry, I fall off counters all the time," he said smiling a bit. He was usually a charm around girls, but then again Delilah wasn't just a girl, but still, there was no way Alden was gonna let someone intimidate him. Taking another deep breath he jumped back up on the counter, letting his legs hang off the end.
'What was he up to', she had asked. She had kinda hit it on point, I mean he wasn't really up to anything besides matches and chips. "Well, you kinda named it. I mean I'm not intentionally lighting myself on fire, but yeah." He continued to eat his cheetos, and drink his soda, already half the pitcher was now empty, along with the Cheetos. Opening another pack of matches he lit one and sent it flying off the counter with his index finger. "Who knew matches could be so entertaining," he said with a small laugh, lighting yet another match in the process.

She chose to ignore the fact that he fell off the counter, to save him the humiliation. "When in doubt, fall off a counter?" She asked puzzled, then smiled again. She found it rather adorable how he was always trying to impress her, but usually just ended up embarrassing himself. Plus he got props for trying to make falling off of counters sound cool, that boy sure did have good excuses. Delilah supposed she was somewhat fond of him, but she knew it most likely wouldn't work out. Shes terribly afraid of being rejected and hurt, but isn't everyone?
"Oh my, Im psychic." She moved her fingers through her bright orange hair, messing it up slightly. She didn't mind what her hair looked like most of the time, as long as it looked somewhat decent. "Matches can be very entertaining, that is until you light your hair on fire." She frowned, and shook her head "Its not fun at all." The smile returned once more to her face. "Is this what you do in your spare time?" Delilah asked jokingly, hoping she didnt end up sounding like a bitch or anything.

Alden just nodded to her fall of a counter comment, with another dorky smile on his face. He was kind of surprised that he hadn’t done something else stupid yet. But he was also glad, I mean he didn’t want to make himself look like a bigger moron then he already was, and it would probably only take another incident like the counter thing to succeed in that. Alden had never really been one to get nervous around girls, and he normally wasn’t such a cults around them anyway, but no matter what when ever he was around Delilah, he always managed to do something stupid, and make himself look like a fool.
“Pshyeah, psychics don’t exist,” he said with a small chuckle. Truth be told, he wasn’t sure what did, and what didn’t exist. I mean before this vampires were just a myth to him, but now he at him, talking to one. He gave another small chuckle when she joked about catching her hair on fire, which he had some close to doing, but he was pretty sure it would be a bit more unpleasant than catching your pants on fire. He thought about her question for a moment, not quite sure what a good answer would be, he didn’t want her thinking he spent all his time catching himself on fire, but in the end that’s what was said. “Yeah pretty much…. I also play basket ball in the lobby when it’s empty, and I’ve slid down the banister rail for fun, but other than that, there’s not much to do around here.”

Delilah found that when he smiled all dorky-like, it just made her laugh. Not in a mean, ew-your-stupid way; but in the awe-your-adorable way. She could tell he cracked under pressure, or even when he was slightly nervous. Which brought her to her next question, Why is he so nervous around me? She thought, Theres nothing to be nervous about anyway. Delilah shrugged the thought away. The thing that made her even look his way, was that he was so unique. Other people were nervous around her because of the small fact she was a vampire. Alden was nervous around her because he liked her. Which was something she wasn't very used to.
"Psychics do too exist!" She said, sounding like a third grader, "I met one before..." She nodded her head up and down vigorously, "At a circus." She laughed. He wasn't the only person who could win the 'I cant believe I just said that!' award. Delilah hoped that her sounding just as stupid as he did would make him less nervous. She was tired of always getting that nervous effect, it became boring after a while. She just wanted to be treated like a normal- [or not so normal in this case] girl. "And that sounds like fun, basketball in the lobby, how original." Now that was something she hadn't seen before in the hotel. It actually seemed like it could be a lot of fun- and she wasn't into sports.

The boy couldn't stop thinking about Raina, I mean why did she not like Delilah ? There was nothing-that he could see-about her that was not-like-worthy. It puzzled him whenever he thought about it, but for some reason he couldn't stop thinking toward the topic, it was now molded into his head, and as long as it was, he was going to pay as much attention to Delilah's flaws, not that she had any he could see. But he wanted to prove to himself that Raina was just being Raina, and that there was no real reason to not like Delilah. Snapping out of his thoughts he barely caught what she was saying.
"At a circus ?" He asked with small laugh. "Well I guess anything could exist," he said with small nod. It was the truth, I mean if vampires existed than he guessed a psychic could too. "Ha, yeah, it's pretty fun. I mean unless you totally run into the wall because your not paying attention," this was the truth as well, I mean it hurt, running into a wall that was hard as rock. His mind came back to the though of Delilah and Raina, it was like any free thoughts were devoted to that. He glanced over at Delilah, wondering through thoughts aimlessly. "So, whats your biggest fear?" He asked randomly, with a semi-curious look on his face.

Delilah occasionally ate a chip from the bag of lays as the boy talked. She looked up every few seconds or so, to assure him she was paying attention. Her mind had a thing with wondering off, so she always got caught not paying attention. Usually she was paying attention, just side tracked slightly. Delilah nodded occasionally as well, she was used to doing this. Though she didn't have to fake paying attention to Alden, he interested her.
She smirked at his running into walls comment, thinking about it for a few moments. It seemed actually really funny. She had a strange sense of humor. Another thing they had in common; they both happened to make themselves look like complete dumb asses at times. Unfortunate, but so true. Even though Delilah was a vampire, and should be alert, and graceful. Instead she was clumsy; but not all the time. Once Delilah heard him ask was her biggest fear was, she stopped dead in her movement, hand still in her bag of chips. She thought fora few moments, pulling her hand out, "I guess I would have to say rejection." She shrugged the thought off, "What about you?" She asked curiously. She did wonder what he was afraid of, it seemed as if he was fearless, just looking at him. No need to judge though.
